Lacrosse Ends Season With Loss To Utica

UTICA — The women’s lacrosse season came to an end Monday as the Hawks fell to the Pioneers from Utica 16-8. The Hawks finish the year at 2-10.

New Paltz played well despite the fact that they played with only ten players the entire game. Unfortunately, the Hawks had no answer for Utica’s Kat Glynn and Kristy Patchett. Both players totaled twelve of the Pioneers sixteen goals.

After trailing 11-4 at halftime, New Paltz tightened up on defense and were outscored just 5-4 in the second half. Mary Warren (Mineola, NY) paced the Hawks with three goals and Katie Sharp (Mineola, NY) and Jillian Sheppard (Stony Brook, NY) each had two apiece. Megan Porter (Massapequa, NY) tallied the remaining New Paltz goal. Goalkeeper Adrian Grasso (Oceanside, NY) made seven saves for the Hawks in the game.

The match against Utica marked the final collegiate game for seniors Katie Sharp, Adrian Grasso, and Kate Roussel (Staten Island, NY).
