Hawks Survive Scare From East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA — History almost repeated itself Wednesday night as the men’s volleyball team found themselves in the same situation they were in January 29th. That night, the Hawks blew a 2-0 lead to East Stroudsburg en route to their third loss in a row to begin the season. Tonight started out much the same as the Hawks jumped out to a 2-0 lead winning the first two games 30-25 and 30-27. The Warriors rebounded though to take games three and four 30-24 and 30-20 setting up a decisive game five. New Paltz regrouped in the final stanza and eventually outlasted the pesky Warriors 15-13 for the hard-fought win.

Beau Warren (Canandaigua, NY) had his fourth triple double in the last five matches finishing with 13 kills, 19 assists, and 11 digs. Sean Riley had 15 kills, 6 blocks, and 12 digs; Chris Ganje (Rexford, NY) had 12 kills, 6 blocks, and 6 digs, while Steve Bristow (Richmond, VA) added 12 kills, 7 blocks, and 6 digs.

The Hawks play again Saturday when they host Lehman and New Jersey City at Elting starting at 12:00pm.
