Swimming and Diving Teams in 4th after 12 events at SUNYAC Championships

BUFFALO, NY — Both men and women’s swimming and diving teams find themselves in 4th place after twelve events at the SUNYAC competition in Buffalo, NY. The men have 140 points behind Geneseo (243), Oswego (242), and Cortland (160). The women have 137 points and trail Geneseo (224), Oswego (187), and Cortland (185).

Jeff Galaise (Torrington, CT) captured the 200-yard individual medley championship with a time of 1:58.67 and Mark Otto (Sewell, NJ) finished 4th in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:50.27 to highlight men’s individual events. The men’s relay teams were also successful in the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay. Galaise, Jon Amoia (Williamsville, NY), Mark Costello (Staten Island, NY) and Jay Sousa (Albany, NY) were 5th in the 200 at 1:29.83 and Galaise, Amoia, Otto, and Kent Yeung (Flushing, NY) were 2nd in the 400 at 3:34.48.

On the women’s side, Kathryn MacCrate (East Setauket, NY) finished 2nd in 3 meter diving and Mallory Grempel (Babylon, NY) was 3rd in the 200-yard individual medley. In team events, both the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams finished 4th. Molly Soule (Clinton, NY), Grempel, Jacquie Edelman (Jamaica, NY), and Erin Lalor (Richmond Hills, NY) had a time of 1:42.92 in the 200 and Soule, Grempel, Danielle Lindner (Wantagh, NY), and Christine Foster (East Patchogue, NY) had a time of 3:34.48 in the 400.
