New Paltz Men’s Volleyball Defends Tournament Title

BRISTOL, RI — The SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team defended its title winning the Roger Williams Invitational Volleyball Tournament Saturday for the second consecutive season.

The Hawks defeated Johnson & Wales at the start of the day 3 games to 2 (21-30, 30-26, 25-30, 30-28, 15-8) and MIT in their second match 3 games to 1 (30-26, 30-27, 28-30, 30- 27).

In the semi-finals, New Paltz defeated Rivier 3 games to 1 (30-17, 34-32, 14-30, 30-27) and defeated the hosts 3 games to 2 in the championship game (22-30, 31-29, 30-13, 27-30, 15-12), avenging a 3-1 loss to Roger Williams the night before.

Beau Warren was chosen as the Tournament MVP with 23 kills, 15 blocks, 4 aces, 165 assists, and 40 digs for the tournament. Sean Riley was chosen to the All-Tournament Team with 44 kills, 25 blocks, 7 assist, 3 aces, and 39 digs for the tournament
