SUNY New Paltz offers courses in Kingston

NEW PALTZ — The State University of New York at New Paltz is now registering students for two courses to be taught in Kingston beginning in January.

The courses from New Paltz’ School of Business and Nursing Program are the first of what the university expects to be a growing selection of courses available in Kingston.

“Courses in business and nursing are exactly what the community is telling us is needed,” said Provost David Lavallee. “The popularity of our business school is growing at a tremendous pace, and healthcare providers are anxious to expand programs that will help provide nurses to the region.”

“Sales Management,” a three-credit course taught by Ted Clark, addresses the elements of the sales function, to include sales demonstrations, organization, supervision and recruiting. It will meet at the Business Resource Center on Saturdays from 1-3:50 p.m. beginning Jan. 26. Marketing 20325 is a prerequisite for prospective students.

The deadline for registration is Jan. 15. Contact Jane Winters at the SUNY New Paltz School of Business at 257-2933, or by e-mail at wintersj@newpaltz.edu.

“Perspectives in Professional Socialization” is a course that focuses on issues critical in the development of multiple levels of nursing education and practice, and is part of New Paltz’ baccalaureate in nursing (BSN) program.

The course will be taught by Joe DuFour and will meet on Tuesdays from 4-5:50 p.m. at the Business Resource Center (BRC) beginning Jan. 29.
