Men’s Soccer Beats Elmira

ELMIRA — New Paltz Men’s Soccer improved its season record to 7-10 Saturday with a 2-0 win over Elmira.

Freshman Matt Daum (New Paltz, NY) scored a goal in each half in the victory. With less than ten minutes to play in the first half, Sophomore John D’Eredita (Lagrange, NY) served a ball from the endline to Daum who put the ball away from in close. Midway through the second half, Daum scored his second goal on a header. New Paltz Goalkeeper Kevin Smith (Niskayuna, NY) started the play with a 70-yard punt that bounced once before Daum headed past the Elmira Goalkeeper for a 2-0 lead.

The Hawks will conclude their season with a home contest against Skidmore on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Skidmore enters the match undefeated in their last twelve matches (11-0-1).
