Men’s and Women’s Swimming/Diving Fall to Hartwick

HARTWICK — Both Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Teams lost to Hartwick on Saturday. The Men’s Team was fourteen points short losing 125-109 and the Women’s Team lost by twenty- one and a half points 131.5-110.5.

The Men were able to come out on top in five out of the thirteen events. In the 200-yard individual medley and 100- yard backstroke, Jeff Galaise (Torrington, CT) was the winner with times of 2:07.63 and 58.75. In the 1meter dive, Matt Fey (Trumansburg, NY) finished first with a score of 120.75. In the 100-yard freestyle, Kent Yeung (Flushing, NY) had the top time at 50.15 and in the 100-yard breaststroke, Jon Amoia (Williamsville, NY) finished first with a time of 1:02.30.

The Women also took top honors in five of the thirteen events on Saturday. In the 200-yard medley relay, Danielle Lindner (Wantagh, NY), Mallory Grempel (Babylon, NY), Meghan O’Brien (New Rochelle, NY), and Erin Lalor (Richmond Hill, NY) won with a time of 1:56.47. In the 200-yard individual medley, Christine Foster (East Patchogue, NY) came in first with a time of 2:19.39. In the 100-yard freestyle, Lalor tied for first with Hartwick’s Tara Griffith with a time of 58.06 and Grempel took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.90. The Hawks also took the 200-yard freestyle relay. Molly Soule (Clinton, NY), Jaime Parrotte (Johnson, City, NY), Andrea Ditter (New Paltz, NY), and Jessica Armstrong (Wappingers Falls, NY) came in at 1:46.42.
