Women’s Soccer Pulls Out Victory Against Fredonia

FREDONIA — Geri Streigold (Valley Stream, NY) scored on a free kick with just 44 seconds remaining in the game to lift the New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team to victory over Fredonia on Saturday.

New Paltz held a 2-0 lead late in the second half thanks to goals from Lauren Pastore (Levittown, NY) and Therese Nordlund (Lulea, Sweden). But, Fredonia stormed back scoring twice in the final seventeen minutes on goals from Katie Remus and Mikelle Huber. The second came with just two minutes left in the match. Just as the match seemed destined for overtime, Streigold found the net. Fredonia outshot the Hawks by a 20-7 margin and goalkeeper Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made ten saves in the game.
