Concert at SUNY New Paltz Features the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet with Guest Pianist

NEW PALTZ — On Tuesday, October 2 at 8:00 PM, the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet will appear in concert at McKenna Theatre, SUNY New Paltz. The quartet comprises SUNY New Paltz Music faculty members Carol Cowan and Emily Faxon, violin; Valentina Charlap-Evans, viola; and Susan Seligman, cello. For this concert, guest pianist Ruthanne Schempf joins the quartet.

The members of the Hudson Valley Philharmonic String Quartet, principal players in our region’s orchestra, hold numerous distinctions as faculty members of the Department of Music and musicians of regional and national renown. Fellow faculty member Ruthanne Schempf, piano, joins the quartet this evening for a performance of Frank Bridge’s Piano Quintet. The program also includes the “Dissonance” Quartet by Mozart.

Tickets to the concert are available at the McKenna Theatre Lobby at 7:00 PM on October 2. Prices for tickets are as follows: $6 for adults, $5 for senior citizens and faculty/staff of SUNY New Paltz, $4 for SUNY students.
