Brockport and Geneseo Defeat Women’s Soccer

NEW PALTZ — The New Paltz Women’s Soccer Team lost its two SUNYAC matches this weekend falling to Brockport 5-0 and Geneseo 4- 1. The losses dropped the Hawks to 2-6 on the year.

On Friday, Brockport opened the scoring on an own goal at 31:10 of the first half. Leanne Gedraitis made it 2-0 with just under eighteen minutes left and Lindsay Boyer gave the Golden Eagles a three goal cushion two minutes later. In the second half, Courtney Eddinger and Mandy Walsh scored goals for Brockport for the 5-0 final score. Brockport outshot New Paltz by a slim margin 13-8 and Goalkeeper Maggie Fenton (East Meadow, NY) made eight saves in the game.

On Saturday, Geneseo struck first early on Logan Hadzicki’s penalty kick less than five minutes in. Therese Nordlund (Lulea, Sweden) tied the game six minutes later on an assist from Lindsay Martin (Mansfield, OH). Geneseo would get two more goals though from Melanie Adamek and Alaina Smith before halftime for a 3-1 lead at the break. Hadzicki closed out the scoring at the 25:44 mark with her second goal of the game. New Paltz was outshot 24-7 in the game and Fenton had 12 saves in goal.
