Warren and Wright Named to EIVA Division III All-Star Team

NEW PALTZ — Sophomore Beau Warren and Senior Chris Wright both add to their long list of accolades by being named to the EIVA Division III All-Star Team for the 2001 season. The duo assisted the Hawks to a 20-7 record overall and a ranking of ninth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Top 15 Poll.

Warren, a sophomore transfer from Rutgers-Newark, adds to his impressive resume since his arrival to SUNY New Paltz. Warren was selected to the second team for averaging 3.14 kills per game (kpg), .390 hitting percentage (hp), .333 service aces per game (sapg), 5.78 assists per game (apg), 1.68 digs per game (dpg), and 1.17 blocks per game (bpg) in EIVA competition. Overall, Warren averaged 2.97kpg, .367hp, .370sapg, 5.86apg, 1.61dpg, and 1.12bpg. Nationally, Warren ranks 12th in hitting percentage, 19th in service aces, and 13th in blocking.

This season, Warren was American Volleyball Coaches Association/Sports Imports Division III National Player of the Week award in February for posting the only quadruple-double on any collegiate level this season. He also adds three triple-doubles to date.

Warren is from Canandaigua, NY. He is a business administration major and a 1998 Victor Central High graduate.

Wright was selected to the first team for averaging 3.15kpg, .418hp, .234sapg, and .92bpg in EIVA competition. Overall, Wright averaged 3.37kpg, .436hp (fifth in nation), .284sapg, and .95bpg (20th in nation).

Wright finished his career with 1,581 kills, 415 blocks, 120 digs, and 116 service aces. He averaged 4.07kpg, .396hp, .299sapg, .95dpg, and 1.07bpg over his four years at SUNY New Paltz.

Wright is an at-large member of the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). He is also a member of the NCAA Legislation and NCAA News sub-committees. Wright was recently appointed to the prestigious NCAA Olympic Sports Liaison Committee, effective September 1.

Wright, who is originally from Queens, NY, but resides in New Paltz, is a 1993 LaGuardia High School of the Arts graduate. The senior interpersonal/intercultural communications major with a minor in journalism will graduate from New Paltz in May 2001. EIVA Division III All-Stars
