Softball Splits Double-Header

NEW PALTZ — New Paltz got their first win of the season splitting with SUNY Utica/Rome on Tuesday afternoon at Deane Field.

In the first game, The Hawks were victorious 13-5 over the Bearcats. Jen Varrone went two for three with one RBI, and also did the job behind the mound (5IP, 8H, 2ER). Katie Monahan and Valerie Blackman both went two for three and added one RBI in the victory. This win marks the first SUNYAC victory for New Paltz since 4/28/1998.

In the second game, New Paltz was unlucky by just coming up short in the seventh inning 11-12. Plagued with six errors, the Hawks let the game slip away. Monahan went three for three.
