Business Professor to be Honored

Dr. Joel Neuman, an associate professor for the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz will be honored at the Chancellor’s Research Recognition Dinner on May 23 at the State University Plaza.

Neuman is being recognized for his accomplishments in studies of workplace aggression.

“His research expertise has enhanced our students’ experience in his courses,” said SUNY New Paltz Provost David Lavallee. “The results he has obtained provide the basis for changes in management approaches to interpersonal relations-contributing significantly to professional practice. His recognition is a source of pride for the university.”

The dinner honors research in the humanities, arts, social sciences and professions at SUNY campuses. It provides research faculty with the opportunity to meet directly with the Chancellor and other senior SUNY officials to discuss their work.

Neuman’s cutting-edge research in the area of workplace aggression and violence has earned him both national and international recognition as a leader in his field. His research was among the first to explore the nature and prevalence of a wide range of both overt and covert forms of workplace aggression and his publications have served to sensitize organizational scholars and practitioners to this important issue.

“Dr. Neuman has established an extraordinary research record,” said Dr. Hadi Salavitabar, Dean of the School of Business. “His success in teaching and research have contributed to the prestige of our School of Business.”

A graduate of SUNY New Paltz and SUNY Albany, Neuman is currently an associate professor of management and organizational behavior, director of the Center for Applied Management, and presiding officer of the School of Business.
