Hawks Fall To Montclair State

KINGSTON — Six goals in the first nine minutes, and a 10-2 halftime advantage, helped power Montclair State past SUNY New Paltz, 18-6, in women’s lacrosse on Thursday night at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium.

Sophomore attacker Alyssa Parisi (Fairfield, NJ/West Essex) had six goals and an assist, while fellow sophomore Jodi Gangemi (Fairfield, NJ/ West Essex) added five goals for the (4-1) Red Hawks, which have won two straight.

Meanwhile, junior attacker Katie Sharp (Mineola/Mineola) added two goals to her school record total (52 points) and sophomore Jen Freud (Stony Brook/Ward Melville) and freshman Megan Porter (Massapequa/Massapequa) also scored two goals apiece for New Paltz (0-2). Hawk goalkeeper Liz Clarke (Stone Ridge/Rondout Valley) made 13 saves in the loss.

New Paltz returns to action next Wednesday, when it hosts Stevens Institute of Technology for a 6 p.m. match at Dietz Stadium.
