Late Rally Beats Women’s Basketball Team

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz led by as many as seven points in the second half, but could not hold off a late Brockport rally, en route to a 56-53 SUNYAC women’s basketball loss on Saturday afternoon at Elting Gymnasium.

New Paltz (10-11 overall, 7-10 SUNYAC) fell victim to a 9-2 Golden Eagles’ run over the final 3:01, to squelch the Hawks’ chance to finish as high as fourth for the upcoming SUNYAC Tournament. Now New Paltz will be seeded somewhere between fifth and eighth for the four-day tournament.

Zebi Williams had 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds and five blocks, while teammate Britni Bishop had 16 points to lead the Hawks, which will travel to SUNYAC leader Cortland for a 6 p.m. contest on Tuesday night.
