Nadolny Receives SUNYAC Bogard Award

NEW PALTZ — Recent SUNY New Paltz graduate Jessica Nadolny has been selected as the 2000-01 recipient of the State University of New York Athletic Conference’s prestigious Dr. Dolores Bogard Award, it was announced Thursday evening.

The award and its male counterpart, the Dr. Sam Molnar Award, are presented annually to the SUNYAC junior or senior, respectively, that demonstrates the best combination of academic and athletic ability.

Nadolny, a Washingtonville, NY native, was a three-year starter for the Hawks’ women’s soccer team, and also played two seasons of women’s lacrosse at New Paltz, after transferring from Ithaca College in 1997. She ranks second (41 points) on New Paltz’s career scoring list in women’s soccer, and is fourth all-time (25 points) in women’s lacrosse scoring.

A three-year team captain and most valuable player in soccer, Nadolny earned All-SUNYAC recognition three straight seasons (1997-99), and was selected to the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association (NYSWCAA) All-Star Team and Northeast Region All-America Team in 1999.

In the classroom Nadolny was equally effective, posting a 3.72 grade-point average in Elementary Education with a concentration in Biology. She was a 1999 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Academic Excellence, and also was named a NYSWCAA Scholar-Athlete that year.

Her last two semesters, Nadolny was named to the SUNYAC Commissioner’s List (minimum 3.3 GPA for three straight semesters), and she was a member of the Dean’s List every semester at New Paltz.

A May 2000 SUNY New Paltz graduate, Nadolny currently teaches biology locally in the Arlington School District, and is New Paltz’s men’s and women’s assistant tennis coach.
