Hawks Sweep Dual Meet

NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz Swimming and Diving teams swept their first home dual meet of the season against conference rival Oneonta on Friday night at Elting Natatorium.

The Hawk women won 117-79, while the men cruised to a 94-81 victory to even their respective dual meet marks at 1-1.

Mark Otto accounted for three Hawk wins, placing first in the 200 yard Freestyle and 100 yard Butterfly, and also teaming with Jeff Galaise, Jon Amoia and Matt Jankowski to win the 400 yard Medley Relay.

Meanwhile, Christine Foster (400 yard Medley Relay, 200 yard Freestyle, 400 yard Freestyle Relay) completed the trifecta for the women, and Scarlet Duba, Meghan O’Brien and Molly Soule each won twice for New Paltz.

The Hawks, which exhibitioned a combined eight races to help keep the score differential down, won the 14 races in which they allowed themselves to place. New Paltz competes at the Union College Relays at 1 p.m. Saturday.
