Hawks Sweep Dual Meet

NEW PALTZ — Brian Bivona and Jeff Galaise each won two individual events and teamed with Matt Jankowski and Jon Amoia to win the 200-yard Medley Relay, while Kathryn MacCrate swept the diving competition, as SUNY New Paltz defeated local rival Vassar in a swimming and diving dual meet completed Saturday afternoon at Elting Natatorium. The diving portion of the meet took place last night at Vassar College.

New Paltz won the men’s meet, 115-85, while also coasting to a 132-92 women’s win.

The (3-2) Hawks finished first in seven of the 10 men’s events, but swam exhibition in the last two – the 100-yard Breaststroke and 200-yard Freestyle Relay. The New Paltz women, meanwhile, dropped just two scored races – both won by Vassar’s Devon Chen – to improve to 4-2 in dual meets this season. The Brewers’ two teams are both 0-4 in dual meets.
