Hawks Cruise To Men’s Basketball Win

MAHWAH, NJ — New Paltz rebounded from Saturday’s season-opening loss to blitz Pratt, 124-46, in the consolation game of the Ramapo College Roadrunner Tip-Off Tournament on Sunday afternoon in Mahwah.

It marked the most points scored and most three-pointers (21) converted in a game by New Paltz in school history.

Five Hawks scored in double figures, and all 15 that played scored at least two points each. Junior center Pat Stirk had by far the best game of his New Paltz career, with a game-high 19 points, 10 rebounds, three steals, two assists and two blocks. Stirk even hit his first collegiate three-pointer.

Ricardo Ricketts (11 rebounds) was the lone Pratt player in double figures with 13 points. As a team, Pratt (1-3) was held to 31 percent from the field and committed 35 turnovers in the contest.

New Paltz (1-1) next travels to York (NY) College on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. matchup.
