Future of e-business Topic for Council of Industry Meeting

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz’ School of Business will host the annual meeting of the Council of Industry of Southeastern New York on Friday, Nov. 17 at the Terrace Restaurant.

The meeting will celebrate 90 years of service to the Hudson Valley and, with a focus on e-business, turn its eyes to the future.

Alex Stier, sales manager of business accounts for Verizon Wireless, and James Stanmyer and Greg Brandow, founders of Hudson Valley Internet, will be the featured speakers.

Stier has been instrumental in building understanding of wireless data and Mobile-Web devices, most recently instituting wireless photo transmission for the Capital Newspaper Group. Stanmyer and Brandow have more than 40 combined years of experience designing process and quality control software for the beverage industry. In 1997, they started Hudson Valley Internet, which currently hosts more than 150 web sites for local and national businesses, ranging from small bed and breakfasts to large database supported e-commerce sites.

The Council of Industry of Southeastern New York is a private, not-for-profit, voluntary association of Hudson Valley industrial employers. Since 1910 it has served as a source of leadership development, wage and benefit data, legislative and regulatory compliance assistance and as a single voice on issues of concern to Hudson Valley industrial employers.

The meeting, which begins at 11:45 a.m., is open for media coverage.
