Field Hockey Loses Finale

KINGSTON — SUNY New Paltz closed its inaugural field hockey season with a 4-0 loss to nationally ranked William Paterson on Saturday at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium.

The (12-3) Pioneers, ranked 19th in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III poll, scored twice each in the first and second halves of play.

Katie Higgins’ goal just 4:39 into the contest held up as the game winner for William Paterson, which outshot the young Hawks 31-3 in the match.

New Paltz goalkeeper Liz Clarke, though, made 19 saves to keep New Paltz (1-14) in the contest, as she has all season.
