Hawks Fall In Women’s Soccer

NEW PALTZ — Buffalo State managed just two shots on goal in the match, but Karen Voght’s shot with 46 seconds remaining in the first half was the only one that mattered, as the Bengals notched a 1-0 women’s soccer victory over SUNY New Paltz on Saturday afternoon.

Voght’s bouncing shot – which also proved to be the (4-7 overall, 2-3 SUNYAC) Bengals’ last shot of the match – eluded Hawk goalkeeper Kim Baldwin 44:14 into the match. New Paltz (1-9 overall, 0-6 SUNYAC) held Buffalo State without a shot in the second half, and outshot the Bengals in the contest 11-2. Laura Williams made six saves in goal to preserve Buffalo State’s third shutout of the season.

New Paltz plays at regional soccer power Rensselaer at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, as part of a day-night Hawk soccer doubleheader. The New Paltz men play the Red Hawks later that evening at 7 p.m.
