Field Hockey Team Loses To Oneonta

NEW PALTZ — Erica Polmateer’s goal with 21:31 remaining in the first half lifted SUNY Oneonta to a 3-1 field hockey win over SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday afternoon.

Jen McLenaghan and Sabrina Boldock also scored for the (2-3 overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) Red Dragons, for which New Paltz Coach Heather Mackay played from 1993-96, and served as assistant coach the past three years.

Tracy Dorrough had New Paltz’s goal with 10 minutes remaining in regulation, off a pass from Jodi Novatka. Hawk goalkeeper Liz Clarke made 15 saves to help keep New Paltz (0-6 overall, 0-3 SUNYAC) in the game.

It was the Hawks’ first-ever home match on campus, after playing their first two home contests at Kingston’s Dietz Stadium. That site was unavailable today due to ongoing renovation work. New Paltz travels to Cortland, which is ranked fourth in the latest STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III National Poll, for its next match on Saturday at 12 p.m.
