University Appoints New Residence Life Director

NEW PALTZ — Corinna Anne Caracci, formerly associate director of residence life at SUNY New Paltz, has been appointed director of residence life following a national search. She accepted the position August 3. “I’m very excited,” she said. “I think we have wonderful students on our campus and the opportunity to help them learn and grow in a living and learning environment has been my dream.” Caracci, a Brooklyn native, joined the university staff in February 1999. She has been acting director of the Office of Residence Life since her successor, Jeffrey Hurrin, left in April after 14 years of service to New Paltz students. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and policy studies, a program offered at SUNY New Paltz in collaboration with the University at Albany. Prior to joining the staff at New Paltz, Caracci was assistant dean of students at SUNY Oneonta. She was awarded, through a statewide competition, the Outstanding New Professional Award for her work at Oneonta. Caracci earned a bachelor’s degree in business economics from SUNY Oneonta in 1991 as well as a master’s degree in education from that university in 1993.
