The International Business Network of Greater New York, Inc. (IBN) has selected the School of Business at SUNY New Paltz as the winner of the 2000 Averell Harriman International Award for Education for its international business programs. The award will be presented on Tuesday, May 9th, 2000, when the IBN hosts the 2000 Averell Harriman International Awards dinner to honor companies and organizations for their leadership in expanding global business in the Hudson Valley.

“It is a pleasure and honor for all of us at SUNY New Paltz that the Hudson Valley World Trade Center nominated our MBA and International Business programs for this prestigious award, and to have won it!” said Dr. Hadi Salavitabar, Director of Business Programs, SUNY New Paltz School of Business. “The School of Business works hard to incorporate international aspects within the undergraduate and graduate curriculums, leading students to recognize and to appreciate a global business approach to business and management.”

Undergraduate programs offered by SUNY New Paltz include a BS in Accounting, and a BS in Business Administration with concentrations in International Business, Finance, Management, General Business and Marketing. The University also offers an MBA program with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, International Business and Marketing.

In addition to ensuring an international perspective within its business curriculum, the University currently enrolls 369 international students from more than 60 countries. Approximately 20 percent of undergraduate business students and more than 30 percent of MBA students are international students.

The University also engages in several bi-national programs in Greece, The Czech Republic and Singapore, in which students can transfer to SUNY New Paltz with third-year standing. Articulation agreements with a number of foreign colleges and universities assist many international students interested in transferring to New Paltz. Cooperative programs in/with Japan, China, Taiwan and South Korea combine ESL training and degree study. The School of Business recently received a $200,000 grant from the United States Information Agency (USIA) to train business faculty members from the Tashkent State Economic University (TSEU) in Uzbekistan and to develop an International Business Department at TSEU.
