NEW PALTZ, NY — On Wednesday, March 8, 2000 the Art Lecture Series welcomes photographer Robert Flynt to SUNY New Paltz. The lecture will begin at 7:30 PM in Lecture Center 112 on the SUNY campus. It is free and open to the public.
For years, Flynt’s work has focused on underwater photographs of nude males, in a style that provokes feelings of loss or rapturous movement. Through this technique, Flynt prods the viewer to reconsider traditional notions of beauty, while providing a new context for viewing the human form in relation to other bodies, space and history.
Robert Flynt’s work has appeared in various publications, such as Blind Spot, Art in America, Manneraktuell and Euros. His work is included in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art (New York), The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
