Men’s Volleyball Team Wins Two At Tournament

LORETTO, PA. — Freshman outside hitter Miguel Soriano helped lead SUNY New Paltz to a 2-1 record at the two-day St. Francis (Pa.) Men’s Volleyball Invitational this weekend.

After losing in four games (15-12, 15-10, 12-15, 15-13) to the host Red Flash last night, New Paltz rebounded to defeat both Eastern Mennonite (15-13, 15-10, 13-15, 15-12) and the University of Findlay (15-10, 15-3, 15-12) on Saturday.

Soriano had 28 kills, 11 digs and five blocks in the St. Francis loss on Friday, and collected 26 kills (including 19 against Eastern Mennonite) in the Hawks’ two victories today. Juniors Chris Wright (21 kills against St. Francis) and Robert Manosca (21 assists, 11 digs and 10 kills against Eastern Mennonite) also excelled for New Paltz in the tournament.

The (2-3) Hawks return home to face Queens at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
