Women Prevail In Close Swimming Contest

NEW PALTZ — The SUNY New Paltz women’s swimming and diving team edged SUNYAC rival Cortland, 112.5-92.5, in a thrilling dual meet on Saturday afternoon at the Elting Natatorium.

New Paltz, which finished with a school-record 10-1 mark in dual meets this season, lost only to regional swimming power Hartwick College in its first dual meet of the season.

Senior Jen Neri clinched the meet for the Hawks with her win in the 200 Breaststroke, edging out teammate Scarlet Duba (a freshman) by just over one second.

New Paltz is at the 17th Annual SUNYAC Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships at Buffalo’s Erie Community College on February 9-12.
