Women’s Volleyball Team Beats Division II Concordia

NEW PALTZ — SUNY New Paltz rebounded from Tuesday’s road loss to sweep Division II Concordia College, 15-13, 15-7, 15-6, in women’s volleyball action at Elting Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Ellen Salov (five kills, two blocks, two digs) and Nicole Ginzel (39 assists, two service aces) helped key the New Paltz charge. Teammates Belgica Santana (18 kills, 10 digs), Mercia Miranda (14 kills, 14 digs) and Michelle Gallo (seven digs, three kills, two blocks) rounded out a balanced effort.

New Paltz, which has won five of its last seven matches and is currently the eighth-ranked team in New York State, improves to 13-7. Concordia, meanwhile, falls to 4-5.

The Hawks will be at the two-day Rutgers-Newark Invitational beginning tomorrow at 3 p.m.
