NEW PALTZ — The best match of the day was played after the final outcome had been decided. At third singles, Oneonta’s Rebecca Lane defeated Rebecca Billow of New Paltz, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
New Paltz (0-4) lost the overall match to the visiting Red Dragons, 7-2, indoors on Friday at New Paltz’s Air Structure.
In other close matches, Barbara Slovak and Billow were edged 8-6 at second doubles and Denise Cariola and Jennifer Lipp bested Rachael Martin and Luci Johnson at first doubles, 8-6.
Megan Crevioserat recorded the Hawks lone singles win at sixth singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, over Kristina Brown.
New Paltz hosts Rensselaer for a 1 p.m. match Saturday.
