Men’s Volleyball Suffers Rare Loss

NEW PALTZ — For only the second time in its last eight matches, the SUNY New Paltz men’s volleyball team lost, falling in five games (4-15, 15-7, 7-15, 15-3, 15-11) to nationally-ranked New York University on Tuesday night at Elting Gymnasium.

The (16-3) Violets are tied for the top spot in the nation in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III Poll. New Paltz (14-9) itself is the seventh-ranked team.

Sophomore Chris Wright led the Hawks in the loss, with 22 kills, six digs, three aces, and three blocks. Teammate Robert Manosca added 53 assists and seven digs.

New Paltz returns to action at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
