NEW PALTZ — The Institute for International Business and the Institute for Professional Development at the State University of New York at New Paltz and Marine Midland Bank will present the second annual International Trade Symposium on Friday, October 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the College Terrace Conference and Events Center at SUNY New Paltz.
The keynote speaker, at 12:15 p.m., will be Norma V. Rosenberg, director of international strategy and planning at PricewaterhouseCoopers. Her speech is titled, “Great Strategy!…But, What do I do Different on Monday?”
Louise Gorman, vice president of HSBC (Hong Kong, Shanghai Banking Corporation) Global Payments and Cash Management at Marine Midland Bank, will deliver an 11 a.m. presentation, “Preparing for EMU: The Introduction of the European Economic and Monetary Union.”
Norma Rosenberg has been with PricewaterhouseCoopers and its predecessor company, Coopers & Lybrand, since 1980. In her current position she works with senior partners of the firm in the development of international and regional strategies for clients. Her particular areas of expertise are strategic planning and implementation, change management, and business process reengineering.
Prior to joining Coopers, Rosenberg had a 16-year career with the U.S. Government, culminating as acting director of the National Archives consulting group. She serves as an advisor to the Foreign Policy Association, has written numerous articles for professional journals, and has been a guest lecturer for organizations such as Strategic Management Society and the World Trade Institute.
Louise Gorman has been with Marine Midland Bank, in the U.S. affiliate of the HSBC group, since 1986. She is currently U.S. product manager of international cash management, payments and electronic banking. Her prior assignments with the bank include three years at HSBC Group Headquarters in London as global product manager/electronic banking, and two years in Hong Kong as global operationsmanager/electronic banking. She is a frequent speaker on the European Monetary Union and other issues related to international payment systems.
