SUNY New Paltz Initiates Industry Advisory Board

NEW PALTZ — The president of the State University of New York at New Paltz, Roger Bowen, has announced the formation of an Industry Advisory Board for the College. “The SUNY system represents an enormous investment in information, technology, and innovation,” remarked President Bowen. “We owe it to the people of New York State, and to the people of the Hudson Valley, in particular, to see that these resources are used to support economic growth as effectively and as efficiently as possible.

“We have asked industry leaders from throughout the region to help us identify ways to fulfill our commitment, A said Bowen. AThey have stepped forward to devote their time and talent to the effort,” he added. Founding members of the Board held an organizational meeting on campus in late March.

The Board will meet twice each academic year to review SUNY New Paltz programs and to participate in special executive development and enrichment programs designed for them by New Paltz faculty and others. Harold King, executive vice president of the Council of Industry of Southeastern New York, said, “The Board is a unique opportunity for the College to benefit from the insights and expertise of senior-level managers. At the same time, it is a way for regional businesses to learn more about the College and how it might assist companies.”

The founding members of the Industry Advisory Board and the companies they represent are Siegfried G.
