Deadlines

Late night workHmm… I wonder where does the word come from?

Homework, readings, assignments, presentations, exams and all kind of due dates will flood your folders and notepads within the first two weeks of classes. Probably most US students are used to this, but if you come from a foreign country and you want to be successful in this educational system, a calendar my friend, will definitely be your best ally.

Assignments are actually not difficult, but time consuming. So, when there are plenty of things to do besides college, you need to be a good administrator. Taking some time every day will not prevent you from going out, and will help you keep pace. But well, we all know that spending a whole night powered up by coffee sometimes is the only solution that will help you to catch up.

Every time I check my agenda I can’t help remembering what Yoko Ono said:

The thing that would most improve my life is 27 hours in a day. I could meet all my deadlines

24/7 at New Paltz

When you’re an international student you’re always looking for information about the place where you’re going to and I’m not an exception. New Paltz Village is one of the most welcoming places I’ve experienced in my life, it offers many cool and interesting locations to visit while being here. These are my suggestions:

Day:

  • Cafeteria Coffee House. This café offers a great experience and atmosphere, if you want a place where you can enjoy a good book or just listen to a great range of music, this is the place. Cafeteria Coffee House
  • Bacchus Restaurant. This place is amazing when you want to spend some quality time with your friends and family. Bacchus offers you a great and varied menu ranging from vegan food to some American classics such as their Bacchus Burger  . Bacchus Restaurant

Night:

  • P&G’S, if you want to have a great dinner, dance and have some drinks, this is the place to be. You will never leave P&G’S without a smile . P&G’s
  • McGillicuddy’s Restaurant & Tap House, is an Irish Pub where you can find Irish and American cuisine. If you are a big fan of beer, McGillicuddy offers a wide list to choose from. McGillicuddy’s Restaurant

NEW PALTZ

Turning dreams into plans…

In a blink of an eye everything has become possible…. I’ve always wanted to have the experience of living in an American small college town and at last the time has come. People seem so nice, happy and it’s contagious! Local coffee shops, restaurants and pubs start taking place for laughter and emerging traditions. Super 8 starts feeling like home and the internationals like family. Being open to new cultures is the best thing you can ever do because you grow and learn so much from each other.

This is just the beggining of the perfect experience!
