oohh squirrels!!

it’s very strange walk and near you to see so many squirrels!

In Italy you can see squirrels only in a natural park out of the city, but here it’s different.

Here in New Paltz or in New York City or in Boston you can find squirrels everywhere! and for me it’s amazing how this animal used to live with human.

In Boston I gave some food to a squirrel and it was amazing!!!

IIB-students going on a roadtrip!

The IIB-group of fall ’13 arrived approximately three weeks ago, and the time has passed so quickly! Even so we’ve already had time to go on a weekend-trip!

Our second weekend here 12 of us went on a roadtrip to Atlantic City and Philadelphia! We also found time to go shopping in the huge outlet Woodbury Commons. We were divided into one all-girls car, and one all-boys car and the girls stopped at two more outlets (TJ Max and Marshalls). It is no myth that we girls like to shop!

Besides all the shopping we had good food, went sightseeing, visited some clubs and just had a lot of fun! Atlantic City looked like little Las Vegas at night, but was quite dodgy during the day. However, we went to the beach to have a look (not to tan or swim though since it was very warm but cloudy) and had breakfast on a restaurant just by the beach, it was beautiful.
I didn’t know so much about Philadelphia before coming there, (other than it being the hometown of The Fresh Prince of Bel Air) but it was a very nice city. The only bad thing about the trip to Philly was that we just missed a huge music festival that they had that weekend. Some of my favorite artist were performing so it would have been awesome to see! We’ve learnt our lesson to check out what’s happening in the city we’re going to next!

Anyway, I’ll let the photos speak for themselves!

Atlantic City and Philadelphia!

I know we just started this semester and everything is going great here! I’m already loving the experience especially that we have had the opportunity to meet people from different countries.
The best thing is that we are all getting along quite well, we already did a trip to Atlantic City and Philadelphia. It was a lot of fun. We decided to go there on the first weekend we were here because it was Labor Day and we had a holiday.

Some of us organized this trip, while other part of the group went to Boston that same weekend. We started our voyage at the Woodbury Shopping Mall; we spent a whole day buying new and really cheap things. Then we spent the night at Atlantic City where we had the opportunity to go to a pool party. On Sunday we went to Philadelphia where we also went out and visited the city for a while.
This was an amazing first weekend!

Girls on the road

I’ve always dreamt about travelling around US. Living in New Paltz I can do a lot trips at the weekends and I really love it.

Last Saturday I went to Boston and Cape Cod where we had a lot of fun in Provincetown. It’s a nice place full of hippie shops, design corners and vintage stuff. There are also a lot of nice bars and restaurants where you can eat special lobster rolls and fresh salmon, so tasty!

I also went whale watching and it was amazing, they are the giants of the ocean. The day after we enjoyed the beach and the typical landscape like Truro’s cottages.

Hello Mr. President!!

Hi!! The weekend from February 16 to the 18th, Marce, Blanca, Lucy, Nora, Pontus and I decided to visit Washington D.C. We visited the main attractions such as The White House, US Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Memorial, WWII Memorial, Air and Space Museum, and some other interesting places!! I had the opportunity to visit a friend who studies in Georgetown and she showed us the university and it’s surroundings. Everything is so beautiful, totally worth it!! Even though it was really cold we had a great time.

Here are some cool pictures about our trip and our beautiful hostel.

Touch and go trip to Italy

Hello beloved blog readers!

Not many of you may know but a week ago I arrived to Super8 super tired after a day of travelling. I had just come back from Italy where went back for a crazy week to graduate! Fortunately all turned out really well but It was stressful and nerve-raking because there was a lot to do in a short period of time: I had to keep up with coursework here in New Paltz, prepare the speech to defend my thesis and find a dress and a bay leaf crown!

Many of you won’t know because it’s just part of the Italian culture, but for us bay leafs are not just used for cooking purposes. Actually we use this kind of plant to decorate the heads of people who have just graduated by braiding it together as if it was a crown. In fact in the Greek and Roman mythology, bay leafs were a sacred symbol of  knowledge and glory for poets and winners of  games that came before the Olympics, and both had their heads decorated with it to celebrate their success.

So it was kind of a marathon and I didn’t exactly have time to savor the moment but it was nice to go home to Varazze, see my family and friends, and in a way close a very important chapter in my life. I have every intention to continue studying abroad so it was sad being in Milan and knowing that I won’t be there again for some time. The curious thing was that the entire time I felt like I was missing so much here in New Paltz. so even if I was glad to stay with people I care about, I realized that right now my place is here, and that I am so happy and lucky to be in the program and to have all these new amazing friends to live this adventure with 🙂

Now that New York is approaching I’m even more curious to see what the future awaits us!I’ll keep you posted on the latest news and meanwhile really commit to the challenge I gave myself last post: find real Italian espresso 🙂

First time in NYC

Two weeks ago we all went to NYC in a trip organized by the University. For me it was the first time that I was going to be in the city so I was pretty excited. Every day has been fun since I arrived to New Paltz, not only because it is a beautiful town but mainly because I am surrounded by the best people ever, and of course this trip was not the exception.

Some of us decided to stay for one night and this gave us the opportunity to go to The Grand Central Station, walk through 5th Avenue, do a lot of shopping in Times Square, have some dinner in a nice restaurant and to enjoy the nightlife. Can’t wait to be living in the City it’s just amazing all the things you can do…seems like two months are not going to be enough.

New York!

Hello blog!

Today is exactly three weeks ago since my first time in New York. I thought I’d celebrate by posting a few pictures

Road trip to Boston!!

For our first weekend in New Paltz we decided to rent three cars and drive all the way to Boston, Massachusetts. We barely knew each other and we were already going on a trip all together. It was so much fun!! We stayed on a beautiful hostel, we went to a nightclub, and visited the most important attractions in Boston. We also visited MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Harvard, both universities are incredibly huge and beautiful!!

We had such a great time and it was an excellent opportunity to get to know each other outside the Super 8 and the university.

Here are some pictures of the trip!!
