Faculty and staff awards, honors and appointments

Congratulations to the following faculty and staff members for their notable awards, honors, appointments and promotions:

THOMAS ALBRECHT (Art Education) and PAUL KASSEL (Fine & Performing Arts) have been selected to participate on the New York State Blue Ribbon Commission on the Arts. The Commission has been formed to examine how other key states are responding to the growing call to prepare students for college and career by explicitly recognizing the role of Arts assessments.

GERALD BEATTIE has been appointed as Assistant Director of Facilities Operations.

CARRIE CORTI (Sponsored Programs) has been promoted to Director of Pre-Award Services.

RON DARNLEY (Facility Operations) has been promoted to Maintenance Assistant (Carpenter).

PENNY DRABICK (Development & Alumni Relations) has been appointed Secretary 1.

DANIEL FREEDMAN has received an $18,000 grant from the SUNY Research Foundation Networks of Excellence for his project entitled “MAM Networks: Proposal for Category G Supplemental Support for Digital and Additive Manufacturing.”

KARL GRONEMAN has been appointed Library Clerk 2.

JAMES HALPERN has been awarded a $50,000 grant from the New York State Division of Homeland Security & Emergency Services for his project entitled “2015 Annual IDMH Conference: Preparing for the Health and Mental Health Consequences of Climate Change.”

KATE HURD (IT/Computer Services – Academic Computing) has been promoted to Senior Instructional Technologist.

MICHAEL MCINERNEY has been appointed IMS Operations Manager.

TOM MEYER has been awarded a $2,500 grant from the National Writing Project Corporation for his project entitled “Writing into History: Exploring the Roosevelt and Vanderbilt National Historic Sites – A Hudson Valley Writing Project / National Parks Service Collaboration, 2015-2016.”

SARA PASTI has been awarded a $4,299 grant from the New York Council for the Humanities for the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art exhibition entitled “Videofreex: The Art of Guerilla Television.”

DAVID RICHARDSON has been awarded a $3,500 grant from the SUNY Research Foundation Networks of Excellence for his project entitled “Recovery from acid rain and fish introduction in the Sky Lakes, Shawangunk Ridge, SUNY New Paltz.”

NICOLE SCHMITZ has been appointed as Financial Aid Advisor.

MARYBETH STEWART (Facilities Operations) has been appointed Office Assistant 1 (Keyboarding).

MARTHA TECK has been transferred from Development to the Department of History & Philosophy.

ESTHER VAL has been appointed as Financial Aid Advisor.

EVE WALTERMAURER has been awarded a three-year grant totaling  $224,000 from Ulster County for her project entitled “Ulster County Counsel at Arraignment.”

KEN WANTJE (Telecommunications) has been appointed as Access Control Support.
