2007 Baseball Season Recap

NEW PALTZ, NY — In 2007, the baseball team posted a record of 16-22. The Hawks finished 5-9 in SUNYAC, including a come from behind two run RBI single in the bottom of the seventh with bases loaded and two outs to give New Paltz the 10-9 win over Brockport.
Senior John DeKams led the team in hitting with a .398 average, seven doubles, a team high 33 RBI, and was named to the All-SUNYAC second team. DeKams’ finishes his career with a school record 210 hits, 45 doubles and 131 RBIs.
Junior outfielder Kevin Paino and catcher Alex Cadmus, each hit .328 with 20 and 26 RBI, respectively, as they were selected to the All-SUNYAC first team for the performance.
Junior Zachary Potter posted a 6-3 record and a 3.32 earned run average on the mound, and struck out 59 batters as an All-SUNYAC second team selection. Johnathon Shanks registered a 3-3 mark and a 4.39 ERA on the mound in 41 innings.
